Much of Mid-Missouri will continue to experience periods of heavy rainfall through tonight.
Several areas became covered with water from rapid runoff, including some roadways not normally prone to flooding.
Jefferson City police indicated that westbound lanes of U.S. 50 near Clark Avenue went under water in the 5 a.m. hour. Also, water covered West Edgewood at Frog Hollow Road and Creek Trail, and portions of West Stadium near Edgewood.
At 5:56 a.m., police advised West Edgewood and Stadium were re-opened. Also, Creek Trail and Frog Hollow Road were re-opened.
During the initial flooding, emergency personnel were called to a location on West Edgewood to rescue a stranded motorist whose car submerged in flash flood waters.
Police, fire trucks and road crews worked to block traffic in affected flash flooding areas, but motorists are advised to be cautious as new flood areas may develop with continued rainfall and runoff.
