Principal Tanya Brown accept position in Blackwater

This past week Principal Tanya Brown announced she would be leaving her position as principal at the end of the school year. She has been offered and accepted a position in Blackwater. The Browns will be moving closer to her new job. Due to the change in administration, the Latham Board of Education met Tuesday, March 25, with Dr. Paul Ricker of the Missouri Association of Rural Education. The board hired him to lead the search for a new principal. He has experience in finding and screening candidates. The board will do the interviews and make all hiring decisions. Cox Mowing will not be doing the mowing at the school as reported earlier. Bochard Mowing will be doing the job.

Kindergarten-fourth grade traveled to Warrensburg Wednesday to see a stage performance of Jim Henson's SID the Science KID LIVE! It was so cute and very interactive for the students. The group stopped at McDonalds for lunch.

Brenda Knipp finished the nutrition classes this week.

Thursday evening the tornado safe room was unlocked for the first time with the weather reported around the area. Hopefully it will never need to be used for a tornado.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Imogene Martensen who died Thursday.

Friday was the last evening for volleyball for the winter. Everyone really appreciated Wanda Wilde volunteering to be in charge this year.

Several from around the community spent Saturday in Clarksburg watching the 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Ike Meloy, Dustin Bonecutter, Andrew Salmons, Rebecca Bohrer and Terri Bohrer all participated. Ike Hibdon's granddaughters, Abbi Barnett and Jackie Hibdon, and Morgan Miller also played.

Latham Christian Church had a carry-in lunch Sunday in honor of the pastor's granddaughter, Raven Woods, Versailles, who gave a talk on her upcoming missionary trip to Africa. Evan Coons gave the prayer at the lunch.

Ike Hibdon has been assisting at John Hibdon's house due to John's recent surgery.
