MCMC Grand Opening slated for Sunday

Moniteau Christian Ministries Center (MCMC) will host a Grand Opening and Building Dedication Sunday, April 27, from 2 to 4 p.m., at 303 Latham Road, California. The public is invited to share in the dedication and grand opening celebration. Refreshments will be served and tours of the new facility will be given.

MCMC, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, houses and administers the operation of a clothing resale shop, Project Share and the Cargill Cares Food Pantry. Beginning in September 2014, the Buddy Pack program for California, Tipton, and Clarksburg schools will also operate out of MCMC.

The Grand Opening and Dedication culminates a four-year building effort. Determined to build debt free, the Board of Directors raised funds through corporate and individual donations, as well as grants from corporations and foundations. Many local businesses donated the skilled labor of electricians, drywall installers, plumbers, HVAC installers and others. Significant donations of land and building materials were also made, and numerous volunteers donated thousands of hours painting walls and woodwork, assembling shelves, cleaning and doing whatever was necessary to get the doors open and the building ready for use.

With expanded space for storage and working space, MCMC is confident that it will be better able to live out its mission to provide food and low-cost clothing to neighbors in need in Moniteau County.
