California places third at Centralia Invitational

The California High School varsity boys golf team participated in the Centralia Invitational April 21 at the Centralia Country Club, where the Pintos finished in third place out of 12 teams.

Centralia won the team competition with 313, followed by Palmyra in second place with 314, and California with 333.

The top 10 individuals earned medals, including California's Kade McAdams and Dylan Kramel, who tied for fifth place with 79 each. Other results for California included: Tyler Elliott, 83; John Wolken, 92; and Cole George, 93.

"All five of our boys played really well," California Coach Doug Miller said. "We continue to get better."

The Pintos competed at the Tri-County Conference Golf Tournament Wednesday, April 23, at Oak Hills Golf Center, Jefferson City, where California finished in fourth place overall with 364, led by Kramel, who posted an 84 to finish in the top 10 individually, earning All-Conference honors.

Blair Oaks won the title at the eight-team event with 310, while Southern Boone placed second with 344, and Warsaw third with 350.

Tanner Elder, Blair Oaks, was the medalist with 68 individually. The runner-up was Southern Boone's Walker Kesterson, who shot a 73. Also claiming All-Conference honors for top 10 finishes were: Kory Franks, Blair Oaks, third place, 76; Travis Reger, Versailles, and Evan Engebretsen, Warsaw, tied for fourth, 78 each; Corbin Singer, Blair Oaks, sixth, 82; Blair Oaks' Jake VanRozelen, California's Dylan Kramel, and Warsaw's Dakota Geromini, tied for seventh, 84 each; Tanner Attebertry, Eldon, and Zack Ancell, Southern Boone, tied for 10th place, 89 each.

The Pintos participated in a quadrangular match hosted by Centralia Thursday at the Old Hawthorne Golf Course, Columbia, where California placed third in the team competition.

Eugene won with 157, followed by Centralia with 180, California with 181, and Hallsville with 217.

Damon Dollens, Centralia, was the medalist with 36. Drew Geritz, was the runner-up with 37.

The Pintos were led by Kramel and Kade McAdams with 41 each. George posted a 47, while Elliott and Kale McAdams each shot a 52.

The Pintos participated in a match at the Tipton Country Club Monday night, where California captured a win with a team score of 177. The Cardinals finished with 225.

The Pintos were led by Kramel, who was the medalist with 41. California's Kade McAdams and Elliott were the runners-up with 43 each. Wolken posted a 50, and George shot a 53.

Results for California's JV are as follows: Freeman, 50; Kale McAdams, 52; Ferguson, 64.

California will host Eldon at 4 p.m. Thursday.
