Aug. 8, Cargill representatives cooked up tasty meats provided by Cargill in Ottumwa, Iowa, for the Whiteman Air Force Base's Atomic Luau. This was a day-long celebration of fun, food, and prizes for all Whiteman officers, enlisted, civilians and their families to attend. The Atomic Luau is filled with several events for everyone including live music, bouncy castles, a rapid fire obstacle course, dunk tanks, gladiator joust and lots of games.

This is the second year in a row that the two Cargill locations have sent teams armed with smokers and meats provided by Cargill and donated to the men and women in uniform to honor their sacrifices and service. We served around 1500 to 2000 soldiers and family members at the event. We cooked a total of 705 lbs. of pork which was a total of 80 pork butts as well as cooked around 1500 hot dogs. The soldiers and people at the event were very thankful and friendly to us and it was quite an honor to serve them and be a part of this event.
