The California Pintos hosted Boonville Jan. 28, where they captured a 74-47 win from the Pirates.
"We shot pretty good inside and out," California Coach Blair Scanlon said. "It was good to get this win after the loss to Versailles."
The Pintos led 21-8 after one quarter, 43-24 at the half, and 58-35 after three quarters. California outscored Boonville 16-12 in the final frame to secure the win, 74-47.
The Pintos were led by Dylan Albertson with 30 points.
California's JV also defeated Boonville, 62-36.
California traveled to Hallsville for a conference game Friday night, where the Pintos battled the Indians in triple-overtime, ultimately losing by one point, 77-76.
"We should've won this one," Scanlon said. "We had a 17-point lead at one point, but they were making the shots. Hallsville is notorious for hitting miraculous shots. But I do think we out-played them."
Hallsville led 15-8 after the first quarter, however, the Pintos outscored the Indians 22-6 in the second frame to take a 30-21 advantage into the second half. California led 43-36 after three quarters, however, the Indians outscored the Pintos 17-10 in the final frame to even the score at 53-53 by the end of regulation. In the first overtime, each team added eight points, then nine points each in the second overtime. Hallsville ultimately managed seven points to California's six in the third overtime to secure the win, 77-76.
"Dylan Albertson had 20 points in the second half," Scanlon said. "Damon Shaw had a big night with 18 points, and Jaden Barr had 14. Jerry Lutz had 10 points, and he had eight assists. He does so much for us."
California was led by Albertson with 21 points.
Hallsville was led by Sean Wooten with 18 points, while Ryan Long and Hunter Wiley each scored 14. Evann Sells chipped in with 13 points.
California's JV defeated Hallsville 40-36 after trailing nearly the entire contest, led by Allan Burger with 18 points. Eli Freeman added eight.
California was previously scheduled to host Dixon Saturday, however, the games were cancelled due to weather, as were California's freshman boys and girls games against Fatima Saturday.
The Pintos (10-5) are currently participating in the Southern Boone Tournament (Feb. 4-8).
"At this point, our record should be 14-3," Scanlon said. "We lost three games early in the season because football put us behind. I definitely think we can win districts."
The Pintos will travel to Warsaw Tuesday, Feb. 11. The JV game will begin at 6 p.m.
