The winter weather brought a thick blanket of snow to the area, wreaking havoc on schedules but affirming residents of small towns take care of each other. People with bobcats, tractors with blades, snow-blowers and shovels were all over the community digging residents out of 7-9 inches of snow. Several of the Good Samaritans were anonymous, including whomever cleared the driveway and sidewalks at the home of Norman and Esther Odneal. The Odneals would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the person responsible.

With the safety of the students as the primary goal, Prairie Home R-V missed the entire week of Feb. 3 - 7. Both the boys and girls basketball teams were scheduled to play in the Championship game of the CCAA Tournament in Higbee Feb. 1, however, ice caused postponement of those games. They have been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, at Higbee. The girls will take on Bunceton at 6 p.m. while the boys battle Jamestown at 7:30 p.m.

The Winter Sing-a-Long scheduled for Feb. 7 was canceled, It may be re-scheduled if a date can be found. See the Prairie Home R-V Facebook page or web-page (http://prairiehome.k12.mo.us/) for the latest information regarding rescheduling.

The temperature is supposed to be above freezing toward the end of the week, so the CCAA Geography Bee should be held at Malta Bend Thursday at 4 p.m. Students representing Prairie Home will be Enoch Turner, Sage Eichenburch, Austin Hatfield, Ryan Small, Allen Haslag, Kassen Lock, Austin Alpers and Colton Wells.

Friday, Feb. 14, the Panthers play the Pilot Grove Tigers in the final home game of the season. The girls will tip-off at 6 p.m., with the boys game immediately following. It is also Senior Night for Prairie Home Basketball players and cheerleaders.
