Red Cross responds to fire in Clarksburg

American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter volunteers are assisting a three-member family whose home in Clarksburg burned Friday.

The Red Cross received a request to assist the family, consisting of three adults, about 6:15 a.m. Friday.

Volunteers made arrangements over the telephone for the family, who lived on Willow Street, to have temporary shelter while the fire burned.

Two volunteers met later in the morning with the family.

The Red Cross provided the family with financial assistance to meet their immediate emergency needs with the purchase of food, clothing and a temporary motel stay.

Family members also received comfort kits, which contain personal hygiene items, and referrals to local partner agencies.

Volunteers will follow up with the family to check on their recovery.
