Tanya Brown attends Leadership Conference

Principal Tanya Brown had a full week. She missed school Monday due to a sick child, came to school Tuesday and got everything done she possibly could for the rest of the week because she had a Leadership Conference at Lake Ozark Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Although she had to contend with a cold Friday, she enjoyed the conference and felt it was valuable time spent.

The fifth and sixth grade Braves hit the court Tuesday evening against St. Paul's Lutheran, Stover. They played a six-quarter coed game. Following the game, the seventh and eighth graders played a scrimmage.

Friday evening the seventh and eighth grade Braves wrapped up their season at the High Point Tournament. The Lady Braves ended the year with a win. Eighth graders Rebecca Boyer, Andrew Salmon and Dustin Bonecutter finished their basketball careers as Latham Braves at the tournament. Rebecca hopes to play basketball next year as a freshman, while Andrew has no intentions to play, and Dustin is undecided. No matter the path they take concerning sports, we fans wish them the best of luck and thank them for their efforts here in Latham.

Jerry Higgins was an awfully proud grandfather when I saw him Saturday in Versailles at the sale barn. His granddaughter, Ashtyn Higgins, was crowned Princess during Tipton High School's Courtwarming the evening before. Ashtyn is a sophomore at THS. He then turned around and hustled over to High Point to watch his other granddaughter, Megan Higgins, and the Lady Braves win their basketball game.

The Latham Board of Education met Monday evening at 6 p.m. and the CTO at 7 p.m. Reports will follow.

School Board filing ended Tuesday. Three positions are open on the Latham Board, Bobby Medlin, Lance Fulks, and Michael Bolinger are up for re-election.

After Sunday services at the Latham Christian Church, the congregation had a carry-in dinner to say goodbye to the Hedrick family from Versailles. Mario Hedrick received a position with Lowe's in Loveland, Colo. He and his wife Melissa and daughters Raeleigh and Lilly will be missed by the church family.
