Almost 1,400 graduated in December

Missouri State University conferred 1,379 degrees to students at its 2013 fall commencement.

A total of 978 bachelor's degrees, 396 master's degrees, four specialist degrees and one doctorate degree were conferred. Beyond the standard expectations, 42 students were recognized for their work with a more rigorous curriculum in Missouri State's Honors College. Scholastic honors were given to 27 students who graduated summa cum laude (with a grade point average of 3.9-4.0 on a 4.0 scale), 59 who graduated magna cum laude (with a GPA of 3.75-3.89) and 103 who graduated cum laude (with a GPA of 3.5-3.74).

Area students graduating include Drew B. Bolinger, Brent A. Elliott, Lisbeth A. Sandoval, Brock A. Wilson, California; and Seth J. Kuttenkuler, Tipton.
