On Wednesday, June 25, employees and visitors to Burgers's Smokehouse south of California were treated to an afternoon with the No. 99 Carl Edwards race car and the NASCAR Mobile Experience trailer.
The employee appreciation event was sponsored by Aflac, which also sponsors Carl Edwards "Aflac Ford Fusion." There was no lack of volunteers willing to squirm into the car through the windows (there are no functioning doors), sit in the seat and, for several, actually start the engine. When the unmufflered engine started, numerous people covered their ears.
During a tour of the Mobile Experience trailer, visitors were treated to information on Carl Edwards racing career, as well as information on the sponsor, Aflac insurance.
Although it was hoped Edwards could make it, a recent win apparently called him to a personal appearance elsewhere. He had passed on the message that he remembered his time in past years, racing at California's XX Speedway.
