Volunteers with the 3MT Lifechangers were in the area last week to provide work for houses in California and surrounding areas. This is the 10th summer the 3MT mission project has volunteered in the area to provide repairs, paint and clean-up work for area homes of those in need.

Main Street Baptist Church Pastor Eddie Schoeneberg said, "The kids have been great this year and have worked hard. The weather has also been significantly better this summer. We haven't had the extreme heat that we've had in past summers."

The 3MT volunteers began work Monday, July 14, and continued through Friday, July 18.

"The key to the success of 3MT is the volunteers," said 3MT Job Site Supervisor Dale Hendrickson, who has been with 3MT for seven years now. "I think what keeps the volunteers coming back to the project each year is the great attitudes. Really enjoying the work you're doing and having a sense of humor. And we really lucked out with the great weather this year."

Host churches provided lunch, ladders and projects for work crews at the various job sites. Following work each day, the 3MT missionaries attended evening worship services at First Baptist Church, Tipton, which were open to the public.

The goal of 3MT is to provide service to fellow homeowners, while also teaching youth to do service for fellow people and share their faith through that service.

The 3MT theme for this summer's mission work is Psalms 43:3 - "Send forth your light and truth."

"This year the mission will concentrate especially hard on evangelism," 3MT co-founder Kevin Kohler said. "We originally set out to teach teens how to share their faith locally by providing service to people who need help. This part of the mission has been a huge success. We've also learned our adults needed to learn this important lesson as well. This program has brought churches together as they have united to do their part in this local mission project."
