The first Extreme 4 Wheeler Racing at the Moniteau County Fairgrounds event, California, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 28.

The first ever Extreme 4 Wheeler Races presented by Impact Signs, Awnings and Wraps, Sedalia, will be featured at the main arena of the Moniteau County Fairgrounds, California, June 28, July 12 and Aug. 6.

"This is the first year we've ventured into 4 wheel racing," said Series Director Andy Korte, who gave up racing to get involved in promoting.

Korte currently runs the W.A.R. (Wingless Auto Racing) Series, that travels all over the midwest.

"The Extreme 4 Wheeler Racing is open to local drivers from all over the state," Korte said. "Little kids to pro guys. We also have a farm boy class and participants can compete in several classes."

Korte said the course will be a flat truck TT style. "It's like a road course. No jumps like in motocross."

Those interested in participating will need to register on the day of the event, and sign up for the class or classes they plan to compete in. Gates will open at 11 a.m. Practice will begin at 2 p.m., with racing to begin at 4 p.m.

Classes that will be offered include: Pro, Pro Am, Open, Open Knobby, Farm Boy, 200-400 Adult, 200-400 School Boy, and 50-110 cc.

"We've had a huge response from advertising for this event," Korte said. "We've already had a lot of drivers contact us to say they're coming. We're looking forward to everyone coming out and enjoying it."

The cost to participate is $25 per class, except for the Pro and Pro Am classes, which offer a payout. The registration fee to compete in the Pro class, which offers a 100% payout, is $50, and the fee to compete in the Pro Am class, which offers an 80% payout, is $40.

The cost to attend as a spectator is $5 for adults. Children ages 12 and under will be admitted for free. Concessions will also be available.

The first of the three events will be held Saturday, June 28. The times and cost will be the same Saturday, July 12, and Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Korte said he plans to expand the event to a broader area after this year.
