California High School Head Boys Golf Coach Doug Miller said despite losing two varsity golfers, he's optimistic about this season. "We lost Damon Shaw, our All-Conference guy, to knee surgery, but he'll be back next year. And Conner George, one of our top guys, decided to try track this year, and he ended up liking it, so senior Cole George and freshman Dylan Kramel got those two varsity spots."

Seniors John Wolken and Tyler Elliott, and junior Kade McAdams are returning letter winners.

"We've got a good group of freshmen who will be competing for a varsity spot," Miller said.

California's freshmen are Dustin Ferguson, Luke Freeman, Dylan Kramel and Kale McAdams.

"Last year we ended up very competitive," Miller said. "Tyler Elliott qualified for sectionals, so hopefully we will do even better than that this season. We finished strong at the conference tourney, right behind Blair Oaks, which surprised some people. We hope to give Blair Oaks a run for the conference championship this year."
