California's Dylan Kramel advances to Class 2 Sectionals

The California Pintos participated in the Class 2 District 4 Golf Tournament Monday at Redfield Country Club, Eugene, where they finished eighth out of 10 teams with 382. California freshman Dylan Kramel shot a 91 to finish 22nd individually, qualifying to advance to Class 2 Sectionals at Eagle Knoll Golf Club Monday, May 12, at Hartsburg.

Eugene won team competition with 320, followed by Blair Oaks with 324. Southern Boone placed third with 337, Hermann fourth with 343, Fatima fifth with 366, Dixon sixth with 371, Cuba seventh with 380, South Callaway ninth with 391, and Versailles 10th with 421.

The medalist was Blair Oaks' Kory Franks who shot a 65.

The top two teams at the district tourney and next 15 individuals advance to sectionals.

"Golf is a game with ups and downs," California Coach Doug Miller said. "We went into districts with high expectations and we just had a bad day that happened to be districts. Hopefully Dylan will do well at sectionals and move on to state."

California's Kade McAdams tied for 25th individually with 93. Tyler Elliott tied for 32nd with 96. Cole George posted 102 to finish 37th, and John Wolken carded 110 to finish 41st.

"It's sad to see our three seniors, Tyler, Cole and John, go," Miller said.

Previously, California hosted Eldon Thursday at the California Country Club, where the Pintos won the match with 182. Eldon finished with 192.

California's Kramel was the medalist with 43, and Kade McAdams was the runner-up with 44.

"This was our last regular match of the season," Miller said. "I'm real proud of how the boys have progressed. The conditions of our course were much better this year, which helped. We have a 15-5 record, so the boys are playing some of their best golf right now."

Other individual results for the Pintos included: George, 46; Wolken, 49; and Elliott, 50.

Individual results for California's JV included: Dustin Ferguson and Kale McAdams, 54 each; and Luke Freeman, 57.
