Jamestown track athletes advance to Class 1 Sectionals

The Jamestown varsity track team participated in the Class 1 District 5 track meet Saturday at Marshall, where five Lady Eagles and two Eagles finished in the top four of their event to earn All-District honors and qualify to advance to Class 1 Sectionals at Central Methodist University Saturday at Fayette.

In the boys' division, Jamestown's Dylan Ash placed third in the 1600 Meter event, and Trevor Barbour placed third in the Triple Jump, fourth in the High Jump, and fourth in the 400 Meter.

In the girls' division, Jamestown's Mickayla Strother, finished the 100 Meter Hurdles in first place, and the relay team of Robyn Eschenbrenner, Darian Wolfe, Mackenzie Strother and Mickayla Strother placed fourth in the 4x100 Meter Relay.

"I'm very proud of all of our kids' efforts," Jamestown Coach E.H. Hirschvogel said. "We have several opportunities now to get to Jefferson City for the state meet.  All of these young men and women have put in a lot of hard work, and have put themselves in a great position to succeed."

Other Jamestown results from the district meet are as follows: Ash placed fifth in the 3200 Meter; Escenbrenner placed sixth in the 100 meter, and eighth in the 200 Meter; Mackenzie Strother placed seventh in the 800 Meter; and Mickayla Strother placed seventh in the Long Jump.

"Garret Jones also participated in the 100 Meter, but did not reach the finals." HIrschvogel said.
