Pintos, Lady Pintos garner All-Conference track honors

The CHS track team competed at the Tri-County Conference Meet Tuesday, May 6, at Versailles, where a total of 10 California athletes earned All-Conference honors for their top finishes. (The top three finishers in each event are All-Conference, excluding relay events, in which the top two finishers are All-Conference.)

Pintos who earned All-Conference honors are as follows: In the 4x400 Meter Relay, the team of Dylan Albertson, Benigno Corona, Conner George and Dylan Norton placed first; 1600 Meter, Adam Burkett third; 400 Meter, George second; 110 Meter Hurdles, Norton third; 300 Meter Hurdles, Norton first; Triple Jump, Walker Borghardt second; Long Jump, Borghardt third; and Pole Vault, Luke Burger third.

Lady Pintos who earned All-Conference honors are as follows: In the 200 Meter, Ellie Wirts placed second; 1600 Meter, Katie Imhoff second; and 300 Meter Hurdles, Jasmine Wells second.

Previously, California hosted the Guy Rush Memorial Invitational May 1, where the Pintos finished team competition in second place, and the Lady Pintos placed third.

Eldon won the boys' division with 202, followed by California with 177; Sedalia third, 71; Russellville fourth, 64; Harrisburg fifth, 22; and Blair Oaks sixth, 14.

Eldon won the girls' division with 209, followed by Russellville in second place with 120; California third, 103; Sedalia fourth, 39; Harrisburg fifth, 32; and Blair Oaks sixth, 23.

"This was a good meet for us," Edwards said. "We had several pr's, which is what we want this time of year. Audrey Pickering had a good day. She went about 1' farther than she has all year. She's had a good year in a very tough conference for the girls' shot." 

Individual results for the California boys are as follows. In the 100 Meter, Walker Borghardt placed fourth with 12.02, and AJ Kendrick sixth, 13.06; 110 Meter Hurdles, Dylan Norton second, 17.11, and Logan Cox sixth, 19.3; 200 Meter, Kendrick fifth, 24.8, and Borghardt, sixth, 24.9; 300 Meter Hurdles, Norton second, 43.4, and Cox fourth, 46.7; 400 Meter, Conner George first, 53.9, and Dylan Albertson second, 54.1; 800 Meter, Benigno Corona second, 2:16, and Ethan Hodges third, 2:16; 1600 Meter, Adam Burkett first, 4:54; 3200 Meter, Mason Albertson third, 11:57, and Simon Schroeter fourth, 12:22.

In the 4x100 Meter Relay, the team of Seth Fairchild, Sam Cummings, Rudy Wirts and Phillip Strobel placed fourth with 48.0; 4x200 Meter Relay, the team of Fairchild, Norton, Dylan Albertson and Kendrick placed second with 1:39; 4x400 Meter Relay, the team of Dylan Albertson, Corona, George and Norton placed first with 3:40.

In the High Jump, Allan Burger placed third with 5'4"; Pole Vault, Allan Burger third, 11'6", and Luke Burger sixth, 10'; Shot Put, Nathan Squires first, 49'8", and Ramiro Garcia second, 45'4"; Discus Throw, Alexx Lewis third, 123'7", and Garcia fourth, 107'7".

Individual results for the California girls are as follows. In the 100 Meter, Ellie Wirts placed fourth with 14.3; 100 Meter Hurdles, Rosuie Swillum third, 19.09; 200 Meter, Wirts third, 28.7; 300 Meter Hurdles, Jasmine Wells third, 51.8; 1600 Meter, Katie Imhoff second, 5:50, and Laney Porter fourth, 6:20; 3200 Meter, Imhoff third, 13:24.

In the 4x100 Meter Relay, the team of Emily Thibon Mattea Adams, Swillum and Haley Admire placed third with 60.1; 4x200 Meter Relay, the team of Thibon, Swillum, Adams and Admire placed third with 2:08; 4x400 Meter Relay, the team of Wells, Porter, Swillum and Kayla Allison placed third with 5:00.

In the High Jump, Cameron Meyer placed fourth with 4'4", and Adams fifth, 4'2"; Long Jump, Wirts fourth, 13'8", and Allison fifth, 13'1"; Triple Jump, Wells fifth, 30'3"; Pole Vault, Allison third, 7'6"; Shot Put, Pickering second, 35'5", and Beth Davis fifth, 28'7"; Discus Throw, Meyer second, 90'1", and Pickering third, 80'1".

Next for the CHS track team is the Class 3 District 5 Meet Saturday at St. Francis Borgia High School, Washington, where the top four finishers in each event will qualify to advance to Class 3 Sectionals.
