Wednesday, Caroline Hayes, Vice President, Missouri Retired Teachers Association; Leonard Butler, Missouri Retired Teachers Association member; and William Ray, Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation presented Mrs. Mozingo with a check for $500, which she plans to use to purchase an iPad for use in the art department.

Last Monday was a surprise day off for Prairie Home R-V. As part of the storm recovery, the hallway floors were painted over the weekend with an epoxy substance. When superintendent Dr. Steven Barnes arrived at school Monday morning, it was apparent the floors were not dry enough to stand up to the foot traffic of students, so he made the decision to call off school for the day. The day will be made up Jan. 19.

Friday was an early dismissal for Prairie Home R-V and the afternoon was used for moving four Prairie Home Elementary classrooms back in to the main building. Recovery from the June 4 and July 7 storms is far enough along that the temporary trailers could be emptied and teachers could move back in to essentially brand new classrooms. Faculty and staff members Jessi Cater, Randa Robb, Sarah Stidham, Jennifer Lenger, Garon Overfield, Krista Moore, Rachel Martin, Roberta Pate, Melody Paulson, Marie Pope, Cheryl Van Kirk, Patrick Tray, Dean Barker, Tina Misener, Dalton Armentrout, Tashia Martin and Doug Bushner were joined by PHHS senior Kody Utterback and community members Will Simmons, Mary Burger and Jenny Alpers for the task of moving the classrooms for the last time this year.

The Prairie Home Elementary will be ordering t-shirts created by the teachers. The shirts may be worn at any time, but most importantly they are wonderful for wearing on field trips as it makes it easier for everyone to stay together. Parents are welcome to order shirts for themselves as well. The shirts, both child and adult sizes, are $8 each. If you are a parent and may not be able to purchase a shirt for your child, please let your child's teacher know. If you would like to order a shirt or donate toward the purchase of shirts for students, please contact lead elementary teacher Rachel Martin at 660/841-5296 or [email protected].

Prairie Home R-V mid-term progress reports went home on Friday. Parents are asked to please take a look and see how their children are doing so far this year. Also, if there are parents not currently signed up to view their child's grades or lunch bill online at www.teacherease.com, please email school secretary Karma Haller ([email protected]) your email address and she will see to it that you are set up.
