FEMA briefings next week for flood relief

The Missouri State Emergency Management Agency will hold briefings next week for local governments and agencies that have or will apply for public assistance from FEMA for flood relief.

The meetings will help governments understand the process of applying for assistance and rules of the program. Applications for assistance must be received by July 1 and are only available to local governments that sustained damage to roads, bridges and public infrastructure.

Individual assistance is available to people who sustained damage to homes or belongings during the flooding. Applications for individual assistance can be submitted with FEMA or at a disaster recovery center.

The SEMA briefings will be held at different locations throughout southern Missouri. Here is a list of local briefing locations, days and times:

8 a.m. Thursday at the Phelps County Courthouse Multipurpose Room; 200 N. Main St., Rolla.

9 a.m. Thursday at the Camdenton R-3 School District Little Theater; 172 Dare Blvd., Camdenton.

9 a.m. Friday at the Missouri National Guard Headquarters 1st floor auditorium; 2302 Militia Drive, Jefferson City.

Governments or agencies with questions about the briefings or their eligibility for assistance can contact SEMA at sema.dps.mo.gov or call 573-526-9234.
