The Prairie Home FBLA raised $434.43 in one week from March 25-29 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Teacher Cheryl Van Kirk said FBLA students put up posters, talked to the elementary students and passed out penny collection boxes in order to raise the money.
"I am very proud of them for raising this much in just one week," she said.
The students learned more about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, teamwork and how to count change, the FBLA sponsor said.
It was the first year for the event, and Van Kirk said they were unsure what a goal should be.
"Students were really excited to raise so much for such a worthy organization, and we now have a baseline goal for next year," Van Kirk said.
