Space theme set for summer school

JAMESTOWN, Mo. - The Jamestown school district has extended the deadline to apply for summer school to April 1.

The theme is space and is connected with the Moniteau County Library reading program, a universe of stories.

Superintendent Gretchen Guitard told the board last month that many of the programs last year went well.

This year, incoming kindergarten students are welcome to attend.

"Last year, we didn't really know if we could handle them," Guitard said. "That's the only big change," she added.

A health and physical education course will also be available for incoming freshman. Swimming lessons at Jamestown pool are coming back this year. Free breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.

Currently, 73 students from Jamestown, High Point and California have enrolled.

The program is set for 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. May 23 through June 19.
