Members of the California High School varsity track team competed at the Class 3 District 5 Track Meet Saturday at St. Borgia Francis High School, Washington, where California athletes qualified in four events to advance to Class 3 Sectionals Saturday, May 24, at Eldon.
Jamestown faced Prairie Home in the first round of the Class 1 District 10 Baseball Tournament Friday at New Franklin, where the fourth-seeded Eagles defeated the fifth-seeded Panthers 4-3.
It was another night of Sunday Night Thunder May 18 at the Double-X Speedway, California, which resulted in wins for Jacob Johnson in the Winged Sprint division, Dale Berry in the Street Stocks, Gage Wineland in the Hobby Stocks, and Quinton Benson in the 600cc Winged Micro Sprints.

The California High School Pintos Basketball Clinic will be held Tuesday, May 27, through Friday, May 30, at California High School for boys who will be in grades 7-12 in the upcoming school year (2014-15).
The Russellville High School baseball team hosted Stover Friday, where the Indians captured a 21-1 win from the Bulldogs.
Three Russellville Indians participated in Class 1 Sectionals Monday, May 12, at the Golf Club at Deer Chase, Linn Creek, where senior Devin Koestner led the trio as he finished tied for 21st with 93.
The California Pintos will see action on the diamond next at the Class 3 District 8 Baseball Tournament beginning May 17 at Montgomery City. The seeding meeting is tonight (Wednesday), therefore game times have not been released, but will be available at californiak12.org and www.mshsaa.org.
California High School freshman Dylan Kramel competed at the Class 2 Sectional Golf Tournament Monday at Eagle Knoll Golf Club, Hartsburg, where he finished 37th with 100.
The CHS track team competed at the Tri-County Conference Meet Tuesday, May 6, at Versailles, where a total of 10 California athletes earned All-Conference honors for their top finishes. (The top three finishers in each event are All-Conference, excluding relay events, in which the top two finishers are All-Conference.)
The Jamestown varsity track team participated in the Class 1 District 5 track meet Saturday at Marshall, where five Lady Eagles and two Eagles finished in the top four of their event to earn All-District honors and qualify to advance to Class 1 Sectionals at Central Methodist University Saturday at Fayette.
The annual Lions Club Track and Field Meet was held Friday, May 2, at the California High School track, where area youth in grades 4-6 had the opportunity to compete in various events throughout the day. Participating area schools were California, Tipton, Latham, Jamestown, Prairie Home, Bunceton, Clarksburg, High Point, St. Andrew, and Fulton Christian Academy. The top finishers in each event were awarded during the awards ceremony.
The California Pintos were on the road last week, where they started off with a loss at Warsaw, but finished with a win at Harrisburg. "It was a busy week that started off rough, but we finished well at Harrisburg," California Coach Jason Gatlin said. "We hope to finish the season strong."
