California baseball field nearing completion

CALIFORNIA — Soon the California baseball and softball teams will have a new field to call home. California Athletic Director Rick Edwards is hoping for May 7 - against Jamestown - to be the first home game played on the new, turf field located behind the high school, but he wasn’t prepared to make any promises.

Southern Boone powers past California

CALIFORNIA -- Southern Boone scored four runs in the third inning and eight runs in the fourth to run away with the 14-3 win in a run-ruled shorten game against California on Tuesday. The Eagles totaled 14 hits and four batters had multiple hits to lead the offensive attack that saw 12 players have an at-bat, and 10 of those 12 batters recording a hit.

OSAGE — The Pintos totaled 14 hits in their 16-6 win over the School of the Osage last Thursday, a day before playing in the Calvary Lutheran/New Bloomfield tournament over the weekend.

JAMESTOWN —The Eagles hosted the Tigers on Saturday for a varsity doubleheader and came away with two wins to improve their record to 7-1. They won the first game 4-2 and completed the sweep with the 5-3 in the afternoon.

Baseball: Russellville roundup

RUSSELLVILLE - The Indians hosted a 7-0 South Callaway team last Thursday, losing 11-0 in six innings. South Callaway put up crooked numbers in three different innings, and outhit Russellville 12-5.

Pintos golf finish fourth at Southern Boone Classic

HARTSBURG - California and Russellville competed in the eighth annual Southern Boone Golf Classic last Wednesday at Eagle Knoll Golf Club, and the Pintos had a strong showing, placing fourth. The Indians placed 13th in the 17-team field.

NEW BLOOMFIELD — Just about every story line played out for the diamond Pintos in the Calvary Lutheran/New Bloomfield Invitational last Friday and Saturday. California went on the lose the championship game 5-4 against New Bloomfield in extra innings.
