Kentucky will build $49 million stadium for baseball

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky will begin building a new $49 million baseball stadium in February with completion planned for late 2018.

The new stadium will stand between the school's newly opened football training facility and the soccer complex on the south side of campus.

Trustees approved the project Friday after approving funding for its design in June 2015. It will feature 2,500 permanent seats with suites and a new club area. Additional space on grass berms allows for 4,000 capacity for regular-season games and up to 7,000 for NCAA Tournament contests with temporary bleachers beyond the outfield wall.

Cliff Hagan Stadium will be demolished when the new stadium opens to make space for a tennis facility for the Wildcats' men's and women's programs.
