Pintos take third in California Open

The California track team closed out its regular season with a home triangular against Fatima and Southern Boone County. Both the boys and girls Pintos teams took third on Friday evening.

The boys finished with 93 points behind Southern Boone's 259 and Fatima's 110, while the girls tallied 119 points to finish in back of Fatima's 158 and Southern Boone's 132.

Gunner Baquet and Toby Dalbey were the lone winners for the boys. Baquet won the Triple Jump with a mark of 40-06.5 and Dalbey took first in Javelin with a distance of 128-02.

In girls action, the Pintos also had a Triple Jump winner in Ellie Wirts, who took first with a mark of 31-06.5. Audrey Pickering continued her outstanding season with another victory in Shot Put. She threw for a distance of 40-09.5. On the track, Cora Kuykendall picked up a first-place finish with a time of 17.59 in the 100 Meter Hurdles and senior Katherine Imhoff won the 400 Meter Dash with a 1:07.42.

Up next for California will be the Class 3 District 7 meet at Clinton High School, where the Pintos will compete in a 12-team field.
