California Stingrays dominant at home swim meet

The California Stingrays swim team won a total of 28 events July 12 in a home meet at the California municipal pool, hosting Jefferson City, Boonville and Centralia.

Jana Lawson led the way with four first-place finishes for the Stingrays, winning three individual races. In the 6-and-under division, Lawson won the girls backstroke, freestyle and butterfly events. She was also on California's winning 8-and-under girls medley relay, one of 10 relay titles the Stingrays won at the meet.

Katherine Rohrbach also won four events, two individual and two relays. In the 7-8 year-old division, Rohrbach won the girls backstroke and breaststroke. She added titles in the 8-and-under girls freestyle relay and the mixed freestyle relay.

Several California swimmers won three events.

Garrett Burger won the boys backstroke and breaststroke in the 13-14 division, as well as in the 14-18 mixed freestyle relay. Megan VanLoo won the girls breaststroke in the 13-14 division and added two relay wins.

In the 11-12 year-old division, Isabella Kincaid won two individual events, the girls freestyle and breaststroke. Peter Dampf also won the boys freestyle race in that age division.

California had three individual winners in the 9-10 year-old division: Chris Murphy in the boys breaststroke, Zoe Street in the girls backstroke and Kierstyn Lawson in the girls breaststroke.

In the 7-8 year-old division, Kinsley Lawson and Jaxon Scrivner each won three events, one individual and two relays. Lawson won the girls butterfly and Scrivner won the boys breaststroke.

In the 6-and-under division, Cade Ranow took home the title in the boys backstroke, while Brinley Milligan won the girls breaststroke.
