A total of 10 area players were honored earlier this week when the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association announced its all-state teams.
One of the honorees was sophomore Caitlin Anderson of the Jefferson City Lady Jays on the Class 5 girls team. Anderson led the team with 11.0 points per game and also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals per contest.
The Lady Jays finished the season with a 25-4 record, falling to eventual state champion Kirkwood in the state quarterfinals.
In Class 4, the Helias Crusaders were represented on the boys all-state team by Landon Harrison. The 5-foot-11 junior senior averaged a team-high 24.5 points per game and also averaged 4.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.1 steals.
Helias won its seventh district title in the past nine seasons, finishing with a 20-8 record before losing to Grandview in the state sectionals.
Taylor Pehle of the Eldon Lady Mustangs earned a spot on the Class 4 girls team after averaging 23.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game. The 5-7 senior was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tri-County Conference and led the Lady Mustangs to a conference regular-season championship.
In Class 3, Fatima's Steven Brandt was one of 20 players selected to the boys' all-state team. The 6-5 senior averaged 24.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and was named the Show-Me Conference's Most Valuable Player.
Elizabeth Lutz of the California Lady Pintos was named to the Class 3 girls all-state team. The 5-6 junior scored 17.5 points and grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game, while averaging 3.2 steals and 3.2 assists.
New Bloomfield's Jak Kitchens earned a spot on the Class 2 boys all-state team. The 6-5 junior averaged a double-double, finishing the season with 24.1 points and 13.5 rebounds per game.
Lexi Dickerson of the Eugene Lady Eagles was honored on the Class 2 girls team. The 5-9 senior averaged 21.7 points per game along with 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest.
Also making the Class 2 girls all-state team was New Bloomfield's Madi Craighead. The 5-6 junior led the Lady Wildcats with 18.1 points per game to go with 3.9 rebounds per contest. Craighead helped New Bloomfield to a 23-7 record before falling in the state quarterfinals to Scotland County, which finished third in the state.
In Class 1, the Chamois Pirates were represented on the all-state team by Aaron Brandt. The 6-4 junior finished the season with a double-double average, scoring 24.0 points and grabbing 11.0 rebounds per game. Brandt helped Chamois to a 20-9 record and a district title, as the Pirates lost in the state sectionals to Glasgow, which finished fourth at state.
Brooke Struemph of St. Elizabeth also averaged a double-double this season on her way to being named to the Class 1 girls team. The 6-1 junior had 19.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game for the Lady Hornets.
