State Golf: Blair Oaks fourth, California sixth in Class 2

NIXA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons are sitting in fourth place out of eight teams after Monday's first round of the Class 2 state championships at Freemont Hills Country Club.

Blair Oaks carded a team score of 333 on the first day. Palmyra leads with a 306, followed by Hermann with a 311 and Bishop LeBlond with a 323.

Three Falcons are also positioned with a chance to earn all-state honors heading into today's final round. Jake Van Ronzelen led Blair Oaks with a 9-over 78 to tie for 14th place, while Kyle Backes shot a 79 and is tied for 16th place. Jarod Steinbeck is tied for 24th after shooting an 83.

Other scores for Blair Oaks include a 93 by Braydon Pemberton to tie for 59th place and a 113 by Dennis Harris, who is 87th.

California had a team score of 367 to put the Pintos in sixth place after the first round.

Liam Schatzer led California with an 83 to tie for 24th place and Dylan Kramel shot an 85 to tie for 35th. Kale McAdams had a 95 to tie for 65th place, Jordan Geiser finished with a 104 to tie for 81st and Matt Hurt shot a 107 to finish his opening round in 85th place out of 89 golfers.

As for other area golfers, South Callaway's Blake Parker is tied for 24th place with an 83 and Ori Bartlett of Versailles is tied for 44th with an 87.

Brooks Jungbluth of Bishop LeBlond leads the individual standings after shooting a 2-under 67 on Monday.
