Prep Baseball: Russellville 5, Eugene 4

RUSSELLVILLE - The Russellville Indians scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away to a 5-4 win Thursday against the Eugene Eagles in Show-Me Conference play.

The Indians scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead against the Eagles. Then, with the score tied at 3 two innings later, Austin Roe hit a two-run triple to put Russellville ahead 5-3.

Mason Kirkweg drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the seventh to make it a one-run game for Eugene, putting the tying run on third base. But Roe got out of the jam with a strikeout and then a groundout to end the game, leaving the bases loaded to get the save.

The Indians used five pitchers in the win, with reliever Trenton Morrow earning the victory after throwing a scoreless sixth with two strikeouts.

Noah Evers was credited with the loss for the Eagles, allowing two runs on one hit in the sixth. Ethan Adrian had a no-decision, walking seven while striking out six in five innings.

Russellville had four hits, each driving in at least one run. Landon Plochberger had an RBI double and Ethan Huff and Mason Stewart each had RBI singles, all in the fourth inning.

Jacob Adrian went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles to lead the Eagles.

The Indians also won Thursday's JV game 10-7 in five innings.

Russellville (10-11, 3-2 Show-Me) hosts Wellsville at 4 p.m. today in the Russellville Tournament.

Eugene (7-5, 2-3 Show-Me) plays Monday at California.
