Missouri's Frericks out for season for women's hoops

Missouri women's basketball forward Jordan Frericks sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a preseason workout and is out for the season.

The senior plans to return in 2017-18 after taking a medical redshirt this year.

Frericks was second on the team in scoring with 387 points  a season ago, and her shooting percentage of 51.1 percent led the Tigers. She also led the team with 247 rebounds.

"Jordan is an incredible leader and a fierce competitor and as she begins her rehab and recovery, our program will persevere together as a family and support her along the way," coach Robin Pingeton said in a statement. "We know she will bounce back in the face of adversity and that she'll return from the injury stronger, on and off the court. I have no doubt she will continue to be an important leader for our team this season and beyond."

Missouri finished 22-10 a season ago and beat BYU in the first round in the NCAA Tournament for its first tourney victory in 15 seasons.
