After being hired this summer, Kevin Labotka will cover sporting events in Moniteau County beginning this fall.

Labotka, the youngest of three children comes from Willowbrook, Illinois, a town about 45 minutes southwest of Chicago. Labotka 22, graduated this year from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a bachelor's degree in sports media and a minor in history. He is ready to start his career and is excited to cover sports here.

"I am very happy to be here," Labotka said. "Ever since I was little I loved sports and now I can write about them for a living. I feel relieved to know that all my hard work in school has paid off."

Labotka plans on giving his best effort on every story and providing the best coverage he can.

"I'm eager to get started," Labotka said. "I want people to enjoy my articles."

This is Labotka's first job, since graduating. But it's not his first time working for a newspaper, as he wrote for The Butler Collegian, the university's newspaper, during his senior year. He also wrote opinion pieces and game recaps as an intern for isportsweb.com this past spring.

His favorite sports are baseball, football, ultimate Frisbee and basketball.
