Harold T. Mochel

Harold T. Mochel, 88, of Prairie Home, passed away at his daughter's home in Hartsburg, Friday morning, Nov. 16th, 2012. Visitation for Mr. Mochel was at Davis Funeral Chapel on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18th, from 1:30 until time of a graveside service at 3:30 at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville. Harold Truman Mochel was born in Overton, MO, Mar. 15th, 1924, the son of Charles Mochel and Della Elizabeth Schoenthal Mochel. Harold graduated from Prairie Home High School in 1942. Harold served his country with the U.S. Army with the 9th Infantry, toward the end of WW II from 1944 thru 1946 where he served in Germany. He was one of those responsible for clean up after the war including camps at Dachau and Mittenwald. He was awarded many medals, including two Bronze Stars. Immediately on his return home he married Margaret Marie Craig, Sept. 27th, 1946 . She preceded him in death in March of this year. He was a well respected cattle and hog farmer in the Pisgah area, was a devout member of the Prairie Home Methodist Church, and a devoted family man. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles and a sister, Lorene Albright. He is survived by his children; Orvil Mochel and wife Terry, of Prairie Home, Rebecca VanDrimmelen and her husband Steve of Hartsburg, MO, His sister, Ann Carroll and husband Frank of Kansas City also survive. He will also be missed by his loving grandchildren, Caleb Troutt of Ashland and Courtney Troutt of St. Joseph, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Home Methodist Church.
