Gary Wayne Alpers

Gary Wayne Alpers, 58, of Prairie Home, MO passed away at his home on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, losing a battle with cancer. Gary Wayne Alpers was born in Boonville, MO, Dec. 8,1954, the son of Dorsey Alpers and Elizabeth Lymer Alpers. He graduated from Boonville High School in 1972, and from there received a bachelors degree from Central Missouri State University. He married Jeanette (Jenny) Ellebracht Aug. 9, 1980 in Pilot Grove, MO. He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Prairie Home as a deacon, song leader and any other place that there was a need. Gary was a successful farmer and was very active in his community. He served on numerous boards in Prairie Home as well as on the Cooper County Ambulance Board and Farm Bureau Board and as a member of the Missouri and Regional Soybean Merchandising Council. One of his goals was to be a role model to his children and grandchildren and he was very successful in that endeavor. Gary is survived by his wife, Jenny, of the home, his daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Lenger of Boonville, and Ashley (Billy) Sarver of Tipton. His parents, Dorsey and Elizabeth Alpers and brothers Robert (Kathy) and Mark (Debbi) Alpers all of Prairie Home also survive. His grandchildren, Jordyn and Brady Lenger and Wil Gary Sarver will be left with an empty place in their hearts as well. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Prairie Home on Monday, Aug. 12th with Rev. Myron Couch officiating. Burial followed in the Harris Cemetery south of Prairie Home.
