Curtis J. Baker, 95, of California, MO passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at California Care Center. He was born on February 18, 1918 in Moniteau County, MO the son of Peter Joseph Baker, Sr. and Rose Maria (Strickfaden) Baker, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1937 graduate of California High School, and served in the United States Army in World War II, where he was an Infantry Machine Gunner with E. Company, 186th Regiment, 41st Division. Curtis worked in the spinning department with California Woolen Mill. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, and was a charter member of California VFW Post #4345. He enjoyed golfing and hunting and was active in supporting high school athletics. He is survived by 5 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters; 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in California, MO. Burial with full military honors will be in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. David Maher. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO.
