Dorothy Irene Odneal

God's angel on Earth, Dorothy Irene Wolfe Odneal, aka, Momma Rosetti, Momma Dot and Grandma, has gone to be God's angel in Heaven on Saturday, January 5, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning January 9th at 11:00 o'clock at the Prairie Home Methodist Church with Pastor Janet Deneke officiating. Burial will follow at Clayton Cemetery in Overton, MO. Dorothy "Dot' Odneal was born Feb. 4, 1928 to John Wesley and Augusta Johnson Wolfe in Overton, MO. Dorothy was the 4th youngest of eleven children. She attended school at Highland, Oak Grove and Prairie Home before moving to Boonville and graduating from Boonville High School . She caught the eye of Lewis Odneal in the Mattingly's Store in Boonville where she worked at the candy counter; and the rest is history. While they may have been poor in the early days of their marriage, they soon became rich with the love of children, Sharon, Karen, Dan, Steve, Joe and Teresa. Dot will always be remembered as a gentle and kind soul who devoted her life to her family and her love of God, always following God's word of loving thy neighbor and do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Dorothy had many hobbies once her children were grown. She loved music and friends. She could play the keyboard by ear and enjoyed playing for the residents at Ashley Manor. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir. She spent many hours with her friends and family, sewing, bandages for soldiers, playing cards and Yahtzee. Dot was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Hubert, Lewis, J.W., Lloyd, Roger and Harold and by her sisters, Nita Conrow, Gladys Brooks and Nana Morrison. She is survived by her husband, Lewis, of the home; her children Sharon Pyeatte, Karen Sharp, Dan ( Alice ) Odneal, Steve ( Tracy ) Odneal, Joe Odneal, Teresa (Dana) Quick; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and by one sister, Faye Williams. Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Home Methodist Church or the Howard County Home Health and Hospice.
