Gary Gene Hammerly

Gary Gene Hammerly, 58, of Columbia, MO, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at his residence. He was born on June 9, 1954, in Versailles, MO to Wm. James Hammerly of Mesa, AZ and Helen Ruth Hinken Heppard, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his former wife; Laura Hunter of Jefferson City, MO. Gary worked as a general laborer for thirty-five years for 3M products. He enjoyed fishing, NHRA, photography, and NASCAR. He was a graduate of the California High School class of 1973. He is survived by man's best friend, Ms. Erika; two brothers, Steve and wife Janice Hammerly of California, MO and Michael and wife Daniela Heppard of California, MO; three sisters, Connie Mummert of California, MO, Vickie and husband Allen Smith of California, MO, and Debbie Heppard of Jefferson City, MO. A graveside service was held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at California City Cemetery. Officiating was Pastor David Baker. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Mid-Mo Humane Society or American Cancer Society, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO.
