Joseph W. Scott, 94, of California, MO, formerly of Moberly, MO, passed away on Friday, July 05, 2013 at the California Care Center. He was born on September 7, 1918, in California, MO, the son of Plummer Dunlap Scott and Mary Viola (Moore) Scott, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the youngest of five children. He was married on May 27, 1939, in St. Louis, MO, to Jane Irene Kratzer, who preceded him in death on January 16, 2012. He was raised in Lupus, MO. He attended school in St. Louis, and was a 1938 graduate of Jamestown High School. He attended the University of Missouri - Rolla prior to entering the US Army. He was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Moberly, MO. He worked as an Army Aircraft Inspector for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis prior to World War II. He was drafted into the US Army in 1943. He worked for forty years at the Missouri State Employment Service, managing the Nevada and Moberly, MO offices. He retired in 1985. He was a lifelong fan and supporter of Mizzou basketball, and was a long time season ticket holder. He was a member of the Moberly Lions Club, the Moberly VFW, and the Moberly Investment Club. He loved fishing and mushroom hunting and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Nancy Scott, Clark, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Roger Morris, Columbia, MO; five grandchildren, Ryan Morris, St. Louis; Whitney Keller, Columbia; Courtney Brazell, St. Louis; Todd Scott, Centertown; and Andy Scott, Jefferson City; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Clark; and Tatiana Morris, Columbia; one great-great-grandchild, Audrey Mosley, Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in the Oakland Cemetery, Moberly, MO. Officiating was Mr. Mark Elliott, Jr. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Judi Morris, 3408 Winners Circle, Columbia, MO 65202.
