Wilbur Lee Pohlman, age 76 of Wooldridge, MO passed away Monday morning June 10 at Boone Hospital Center after a short battle with lymphoma. Wilbur was the son of Leo H. And Lydia Pohlman, he was born March 24, 1937 at home in Wooldridge. He graduated from Boonville High School. On April 6, 1958 he married Janette Gander in Boonville. Wilbur was a member of the Pleasant Grove Lutheran Church near Wooldridge where he was baptized and confirmed. Wilbur was an 8 year member of the Missouri National Guard and was a lifelong farmer and Polled Hereford breeder. He was active with Cooper County 4-H as a beef leader and sheep leader for 20 years. He served on the Prairie Home School board and assisted with the sheep show at the Prairie Home fair for many years. Wilbur loved to garden and give away his prize tomatoes and vegetables and in his early years he delighted in working for the Missouri Highway Department doing winter snow removal. Wilbur and Janette ran Pohlman's Cakes and Catering for 30 years and he was the silent partner of Pohlman's Create A Cake of Columbia for 28 years and currently of Wooldridge for 7 years. He loved to help deliver the wedding cakes and wear his shirt " I am the Husband, I just carry the Cake." Wilbur never met a stranger. He enjoyed weekly trips to the Guys gathering on Thursdays in Jamestown and the morning coffee crowd at Prairie Home Cafe. He is survived by his wife of the home, daughter Alicia Russell (Ron) of Wisconsin, son Timothy Pohlman (Debbie)of Columbia. and daughter Janella Spencer(Jim) of Aurora, MO. He was so proud of his 10 grandchildren, Jason Russell, Iowa, Chad Russell, Lydia Russell, Kajal Russell, Girish Russell of Wisconsin, Anila Russell Howard (Ray) of Maryland. Sarah Pohlman and Erin Pohlman of Columbia, Courtney Spencer and Colton Spencer of Aurora, MO.He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jon and Barbara Thoma of Boonville, sister-in-law Evelyn Gander of Rolla, aunt Alene Snodgrass, Warrensburg and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Lydia Pohlman, his in-laws, John and Ruby Gander and his brother-in-law John Gander. Services were Saturday June 15 at the Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville. Burial followed at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Boonville.
