Audrey Jenkins, 88, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at St. Joseph's Bluffs surrounded by her family. She was born on September 19, 1924, in McCormick, South Carolina, the daughter of the late James W. and Eula Mae (McMahon) Loveless. Her mother passed away when Audrey was four years old. Her father then married Eula Mae Hendrix who helped James raise Audrey. She was united in marriage on May 26, 1945, in Greenwood, South Carolina, to Joseph Bradford Roberts with her sister Louise Youngblood by her side. Audrey and Joe later relocated to Rolla, Missouri raising four children, Kathy, Jim, Susan, and Thea. After a long illness, her beloved Joe died in 1966. Moving to Jefferson City in 1976, Audrey married Winford L. Jenkins of Bunker, in December of 1977 and soon relocated to California, Missouri. Winford preceded her in death in 1997. Audrey had an outstanding career in nursing, beginning with her service as an Army nurse during World War II. She continued on as an avid and tireless patient advocate throughout her career including Phelps County Public Health Department, opening the Waynesville Practical School of Nursing, and served in multiple roles within the Missouri Department of Health. She later opened several home health and hospices agencies throughout Missouri and Illinois. Audrey also served as the President on the Missouri State Board of Nursing. Audrey was a member of First Baptist Church in California, Missouri where she enjoyed many years of worship and friendships, serving on multiple committees. Devoted to her children and grandchildren, Audrey was a selfless, hard-working, generous, and kind wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt to her family who will miss her dearly. Survivors include: two daughters, Susan (Jim W.) Wyatt, Glendale, Arizona; Thea (David E.) Scott, Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Joshua Millsap and Sarah Millsap; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Millsap and Emma Millsap; and seven siblings, Lawrence (Virginia) Loveless, Columbia, SC; Lena I. Ball, Columbia, SC; Billie Alexander, Orangeburg, SC; Jimmie Ann (Robin) Campbell, Ward, SC; Nellie (Bob) Clayton, Florence, SC; James "Bud" (Linda) Loveless, SC; and Harold "Pete" (Darlene) Loveless, Greenwood, SC. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Roberts; a son, Jim Roberts; and a sister, Louise Youngblood. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens in Rolla, Missouri.
