Claudia J. Hale, 92, formerly of Tipton, MO passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Moniteau Care Center. She was born on November 17, 1920 in Newburg, MO the daughter of Charles L. and Laura (Harrison) Mathis, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on May 3, 1943 in Oakland, CA to Kenneth Gaylon Hale who preceded her in death on January 4, 1979. She was a 1939 graduate of Newburg High School and a member of First Baptist Church of Tipton. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening, and loved picking walnuts. Her family loved her homemade bread. Claudia volunteered at Tipton Manor, was a welder in the shipyards in Oakland, CA, and was a secretary when Ft. Leonard Wood opened. She is survived by one son, Mike Hale and wife Brenda of California; two daughters, Clara Fulks and husband Kenneth of California, and Barbara Hays and her two dogs Cheater and Bonnie of Tipton; two step-grandsons, and three step-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Evans and Mossalene Melton; and her son-in-law Steve Hays. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery in Tipton, MO. Officiating was Bro. Jeremy Barnard, assisted by Rev. Scott Spurling. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Moniteau Care Center Residents' Activity Fund or Hospice Compassus, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO.
