Dorothy D. Call, 88, of California, MO passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Moniteau Care Center. She was born January 10, 1925 in Trenton, MO, the daughter of Dean and Cecelia (Kinsella) McCallum, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married May 25, 1946 in Trenton, MO to Richard Call who preceded her in death on May 20, 2006. Dorothy graduated from Trenton High School in 1942 and immediately went to work for Southwestern Bell in Trenton, where she worked until starting a family. In 1952, they moved to Chillicothe when Richard accepted a position with Barnes Greenhouses. In 1970, they moved to California to start D&R Plants, where they both worked in the business until retirement in 1982. Dorothy loved to spend time with family and going to drink coffee with friends. She also loved to fish and travel. Dorothy is survived by one son, Robert D. Call and wife Alice Longfellow of Centertown, MO; one daughter, Carol and husband Steve Phares of Breckenridge, MO; one sister-in-law, Frances Griffin of Trenton, MO; five grandchildren, Aaron, Blake, and Lindsey Phares and Eric and Rachel Call; one great-grandson, Brendan Phares. Private family graveside services will be at a later date at the Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Preferred Hospice of Columbia C/O Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St. California, MO 65018.
