Peggy Lou Runkle

Mrs. Peggy Lou Coots Runkle, age 74 years, of Lohman, Mo. passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on July 19, 1938 in Cole County, Mo. a daughter of Emmit F. Coots, Sr. and Mary Ellen Smith Coots. She was married on November 22, 1956 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Bobby Lee Runkle. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Peggy graduated from Jefferson City High School. Peggy was employed as the first female security guard at the Missouri State Capitol. A homemaker for the majority of her life, she developed and built Elston Acres Mobile Home Park. She was a longtime member of Elston Baptist Church. Peggy cherished time with her family, especially at the lake, and with her dog, Scratch. During her free time, she enjoyed collecting dishes and genealogy. Survivors include: her husband of fifty-six years, Bobby L. Runkle; four sons, Alan D. Runkle and his wife Carla of Boonville, Mo., Randy K. Runkle and his girlfriend Kelly of Centertown, Mo., Richard L. Runkle and his wife Stephanie of Jefferson City, Mo., and Chad Cotton and his girlfriend Rosie of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Emmit F. Coots, Jr. and his wife Mary Jane of Jefferson City, Mo.; ten grandchildren, Jacob, Jordon, Aaron, Justin, Marissa, Alicia, Amber, Nichole, Brandi and Chris; four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Rylee, Carter and Aleyiah; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Elston Baptist Church with the Reverend Don Fankhauser, the Reverend Rick Conley, and the Reverend Dave Fitzgerald officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Elston Cemetery in Elston, Mo. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Friends of Elston Cemetery, American Cancer Society, or Hospice Compassus.
