Herbert H. Kusgen

Herbert H. Kusgen, 100, of Blackwater, MO passed away at Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville, MO on Friday May 23, 2014. Herbert was born on September 20, 1913 the son of Albert Theodore Kusgen and Hulda (Bleich)Kusgen, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on June 3, 1934 to Ruby Geraldine Porter who preceded him in death in 2011. Herbert graduated from California High School in California, MO and attended Warrensburg Teachers College in Warrensburg, MO. Herbert worked as a farmer most of his life on the family farm. He was a member of the California U.C.C. Church in California, Mo. and enjoyed the church "Consistory". Herbert is survived by two sons, Ted Kusgen of Blackwater, MO, and Danny Kusgen of Sunrise Beach MO, three daughters, Lola McCarty and husband Jerry of California, MO, Hulda Pollman and husband Louis of Lee's Summit, MO, and Ruby Latham and husband Jim of Denison, TX. Herbert enjoyed having seventeen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant daughter Nancy Kusgen, one grandson Kevin Bird and one great grandson Klint Andrews, four sisters and one brother. Visitation will be held on Saturday May 31, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. till 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday June 1, 2014 at the California U.C.C. Church in California, MO. Burial service will be at the Salem U.C.C. Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Andrew Lovins. Memorial Contributions can be made to the California U.C.C. Church or the Salem U.C.C. Cemetery c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO.
