Larry Dean Wittenberger

Larry Dean Wittenberger, 68, of Columbia passed away at home Thursday April 21, 2016, with his loving family at his side. He was born September 8, 1947, to Lawrence "Larry" and Mary "Sells" Wittenberger, both of who preceded him in death. He graduated from Prairie Home High School and Central Missouri State College, now the University of Central Missouri. He was united in marriage on May 31, 1969, in California, Mo., to Ruth Ann Zey. He was employed with Shelter Insurance Company from June, 1969 until his retirement in 2008. Larry was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, The Knights of Columbus Council 1529, and Msgsr. Flood Fourth Degree Assembly 583. He was an active member of the CPCU Society until his retirement in 2008. He is survived by: his loving wife of 46 years, Ruth Ann; two children, Galen Wittenberger and Dr. Darren Wittenberger both of Columbia; the pride and joy of his life, grandchildren, Jonah, Adia, and Elias Wittenberger; his brother, Stephen Wittenberger of California, Mo. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Prayer Service at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
