Patty Marie Wells

Patty Marie (Jobe) Wells, 67, of California, Mo., passed away at her home on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Patty was born May 31, 1949, to Albert and Virginia Derby Jobe. Patty was married on June 16, 1968, at the First Baptist Church, in California, Mo, to the love of her life, Jerry Wells. Patty graduated from California High School in 1967. She was very proud of the softball team she played on in high school losing only one game in the four years she started on the varsity team as the pitcher. Patty enjoyed playing fast pitch softball on her father's traveling team. The High Point team traveled all over Mo., and played in the state tournament taking third place. Patty was invited to play with teams from other areas of the state to play in regional playoffs. After high school Patty worked for the Dept. of Veterans affairs for two years, before she and her husband moved to Pilot Grove, Mo., where her husband taught and coached. Patty worked as a stenographer for the McGraw Edison Company in Boonville, Mo., for two years; and then worked for the Elementary Principal at Pilot Grove School. Patty's family moved back to California, Mo., in 1974. Patty worked in Jefferson City at the Mo. Nurses Association for over two years; and the Department of Education for 19 years, and the Labor Commission for 13 years which she retired from in 2007. Patty loved playing golf with her husband and girlfriends. She loved traveling with her husband. She loved her family so very much and took great pride in her children and grandchildren. Patty was a Cardinals and Royals baseball fan. She loved reading and walking at the park. Patty was a member of the General Federated Women's Club and member of the First Baptist Church in California, Mo. Patty was a member of the California Country Club and a member of the Ladies Golf League. Survivors include: her husband, Jerry; son, Kevin Wells and his wife, Sara of Springfield, Mo., daughter, Jennifer Roush of California, Mo.; granddaughters, Kirstyn Conley and her husband Will of Jamestown, Mo.; and granddaughter, Kelsey Roush of California, Mo.; grandsons Jace and Gage Wells of Springfield, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Gary Wells; two sister-in-laws, Alana Wells and Ruth Ann Jobe of California, Mo.; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; one Aunt, Mary Dillner of Pilot Grove, Mo.; several cousins and a very special cousin, Vicki Jobe McCarrell, who held a very special place in Patty's heart! She was preceded in death by: her parents, Albert Jobe and Virginia Dyer; her brother, Jerry Jobe; and sister, Judy Gray; her father-in-law, Ott Wells, and her very special mother-in-law, Ruth Wells. Visitation was held on Monday, December 5, 2016, from 10 a.m. 12 noon at the First Baptist Church California, Mo. with funeral service immediately following at noon. Officiated by Rev. Greg Morrow. Burial was held at the Masonic Cemetery in California, Mo. Memorials suggested to the First Baptist Church California, Mo. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
