Juanita "Bonnie" Voncille Brown

Juanita "Bonnie" Voncille Brown, 88, of California, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 21, 2016, at California Care Center, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 5, 1928, in Borger, Texas, the daughter of Ernest and Rose Mary (Unternaehrer) Henke, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage on August 20, 1945, in Olathe, Kan., to James "Jim" W. Brown, who preceded her in death on November 21, 1997. She was the owner/operator of B and B Store and B and B Auction in California for 38 years. She recently enjoyed working at Sweet Buy and Buy until her illness. She loved her customers and treated everyone as though they were family. Bonnie loved talking to everyone that came in the store and always welcomed every customer with a sweet southern smile and a cordial, "Hello". She lit up the room with her charm and wit. She and her husband Jim had a passion for country music. Most days at the store, they would "pick and grin" with anyone that loved country music as much as they did. Bonnie had many treasures in life, but her most important treasures were her family. She adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. They were the twinkle in her eye and the lift in her step. Bonnie is survived by: her loving son, Steve (Sandy) Brown of California; seven grandchildren, Robbie (Marsha) Brown; Sheila Woolridge, Kim (Dave) Reploge, Melody Brown, Alan (Patricia) Morris, Libby Holzer, and Dawn (Mike) Hiller; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Al Henke and three infant children. Family received friends from 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, January 25, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Dr. Peter Kurowski officiating. Interment followed at California City Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to California Care Center-Activities Fund or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
