LaVerla Ruth (Hill) Kistler, 77, of California, Mo., departed this earth on July 3, 2016, and joins husband Ronald Lee Kistler in heaven. LaVerla was born on December 31, 1938, to Warren and Mabel Hill of Stewartsville Mo. She was married to Ronald Lee Kistler on November 1, 1957, in St. Joseph Mo. LaVerla worked for more than 30 years with the State of Missouri, retiring from her position as a Judicial Executive Assistant with the Missouri Supreme Court. Prior to the Supreme Court, LaVerla worked for Office of the Governor and the Office of the Attorney General. LaVerla spent her retirement years enjoying a vacation home in Florida, and living on a farm in Cooper County tending to quite a number of animals including two horses, two dogs, two parakeets and a variety of wildlife (deer, turkey, squirrels, birds, hummingbirds). LaVerla was a life long animal lover and enjoyed the way of life offered by the country farm. She was also an avid water skier and snow skier, continuing to enjoy both hobbies well into her late 60's. LaVerla is survived by: two sons, Jim Kistler of Navarre, Fla. and Scott Kistler of California, Mo.; two grandchildren, Moriah Kistler of Navarre, Fla. and R.J. Kistler of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Richard Hill of Columbia, Mo. and Robert (Dorothy) Hill of Raytown, Mo.; two sisters-in-law Joycelyn (Jim) Martin of Santa Rosa Beach Fla. and Carlyn (Bob) Howard of St. Joseph Mo.; nieces, Anita (Rob) Hoffman of Indianapolis, Ind., Kathy (Dean) Ray of Columbia, Mo., Becky (Tom) Reynolds of Kansas City, Mo., Julie (Gary) Breault of Wichita, Kan.; nephews, Rick (Joanne) Hill of Sagle, Idaho, Don Hill and Cindy Flannagan of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., Rob (Brooke) Hill of Kansas City, Mo. and Wade (Kristin) Howard of Kansas City, Mo. and many other beloved cousins, family and friends. LaVerla was preceded in death by: her husband, Ronald Kistler; her mother and father, Mabel (Killpack) Hill and Warren Hill; sister-in-law Elaine Hill. She will be missed by so many. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, July 8, 2016, at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. A Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, July 8, 2016, at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. Officiated by the Rev. William S. Romans Sr. Inurnment will be at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in St. Joseph, Mo. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association or Friends of Animals of Eldon, Mo., c/o the funeral home.
