Carol Jean (Schelp) Twaddle, 81, of California, Mo., passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Tipton Oak Manor. She was born on November 7, 1934, the daughter of Herbert "Pick" Schelp and Ida "Stuerke" Schelp both of whom preceded her in death. Carol was a graduate of Sweet Springs High School and also had a degree in cosmetology. Carol was married in Emma, Mo., on March 19, 1976, to Melvin "Doc" Twaddle who preceded her in death on March 27, 2016. She worked as a cosmetologist for many years and owned her own salon. She was also a homemaker. Carol was a member of the First Christian Church of California, Mo. She loved dancing, traveling and enjoyed visiting and socializing and never meet a stranger. She is survived by: three daughters, Teresa Funk and husband David of Fayetteville, Ark., Tami Wise and husband David of Old Town, Fla., Tonia Lichtenwalner and husband David of Duluth, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Matthew Knight of Brooklyn, N.Y., Michael Knight and wife Erin of Blue Springs, Mo., Christopher Wise and wife Tanja of Grossotheim, Germany, Benjamin Lichtenwalner and wife (Megan) of Lawrenceville, Ga., Joseph Lichtenwalner and wife Candice of Duluth, Ga., Mark Lichtenwalner and wife Ariel of Atlanta, Ga., Jacob Lichtenwalner of Duluth, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, Eason Knight, Trey and Leona Wise, Lily, Leah, Lydia and George Lichtenwalner and Daniel Lichtenwalner; two step-sons, Michael Twaddle and wife Lana of Lake Ozark, Mo., Tracy Twaddle of Boone County, Mo.; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: one brother, Richard Schelp; a grandson, Joshua Funk; and one step-daughter Terri Creason. Visitation will be on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the First Christian Church in California, Mo. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, July 11, 2016, at the First Christian Church in California, Mo. Officiating Pastor Eugene Moll. Inurnment will be at a later date at the California City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or MS Society c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St. California, Mo.
