Monroe Wellington Uptergrove, 90, of Tipton passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Tipton Oak Manor. He was born on April 24, 1926 in Latham, Mo., the son of Elbert Uptergrove and Ethel Scott. He was married on June 17, 1951, at the Latham Christian Church to Monta Clifford who survives of the home. He was the owner of Coast to Coast for 23 years, and also worked at Bixler Appliance for 14 years. He enjoyed working on small engines, had fun building his small scale train and being in parades, he loved being around his children and grandchildren. Survivors include: three sons, James Uptergrove and his wife Rowena of Vienna, Mo., Carl Uptergrove and his wife Shelby of Meriden, Kan., and Mark Uptergrove and his wife Angie of Greenview, Mo.; nine grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: two sisters, Velma Rose Harris, and Vera June Newkirk Allee. Visitation was held on Sunday, November 27, 2016, from 35 p.m., at the Fortuna United Methodist Church. Funeral Services were held on Monday, November 28, 2016, at 10 a.m., at the Fortuna United Methodist Church. Officiated by Pastor Richard Parker. Burial was at the Latham Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Fortuna United Methodist Church c/o the funeral home. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
