Edna Ruth Schramm, 90, of Apex, North Carolina, (formerly California, Missouri), died Sunday, October 16, 2016, at her home. She was born July 24, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth "Bell" Lindsey Thompson. She was married July 25, 1943, and lived 72 years on the farm outside California, Missouri. She spent her last year in Apex, North Carolina. Edna spent her life farming alongside her husband, Warren Schramm. She was a member of United Church of Christ in California, Missouri, and a member of Eastern Star for a number of years. Surviving are two daughters, Judith Kay Bretall of Springfield, Missouri, and Barbara Ruth Lloyd of Cary, North Carolina; one sister, Genevieve Smith of California, Missouri; two granddaughters, Julie Lynn Zerr of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Amy Sue Bretall of Kansas City, Missouri; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Grace Zerr and Jacob William Zerr of Jefferson City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Schramm, in 2002; an infant son, William Schram, and other siblings, John William Thompson, Mildred, Charles Franklin Thompson, Minnie, Ollie Mae, and Paul Armand Thompson. Services were held Friday, October 21, 2016, at 12:00 noon at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, in California, Missouri, with Mr. Jack Bowlin officiating. Burial was in California Masonic Cemetery. Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 12 noon that same day. Memorials may be made to the California United Church of Christ Building Fund, 101 N. Oak Street, California, MO 65018.
