Dennis T. Garber

Dennis T. Garber, age 92, of Tipton, passed away at the Veteran's Home in Warrensburg, Mo., on September 9, 2016. He was born on March 9, 1924, in rural Versailles, Mo., the son of the late Edwin R. and Elizabeth Diener Garber. Also preceding Dennis in death are: his siblings, Pauline Wulff, Violet Garber, William, Norman "Bud", Edwin, Bob and Raymond Garber. On August 6, 1946, in Paola, Kan., he was united in marriage to Marvelene Marie (Senior) Garber, who preceded him in death on July 18, 2013. Dennis is survived by: a son, Ronald Garber and wife Diane of Chillicothe, Mo.; three daughters, Denna Angle and husband Steve of Warrensburg, Mo., Carol Franken and husband Fred and Lisa Knipp and husband Bradley both of Tipton, Mo.; his brother, Homer Garber and wife Twila of Versailles, Mo.; his sisters, Ina McCormick of Bangor, Northern Ireland, Lena Alexander and husband Dick of Promise City, Iowa, Velma Reiss of Demorest, Georgia, Mary Gehman and husband Dan of Lewistown, Mont. and Rosella Fulks of Latham, Mo.; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Dennis graduated from Versailles High School. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Early in his life he farmed and later became part owner of Garber Motors in Tipton, Mo. He retired working from Moniteau County Roads. After retirement, he helped his son-in-law, Bradley, farm for over twenty years. Dennis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tipton. He served the church in many faithful capacities. He enjoyed gardening, watching sports and playing board games. He loved spending time with family and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 12th, at the First Baptist Church in Tipton, Brother David Stephenson officiated. Graveside services and interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery. The family received friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Tipton or the Veteran's Home in Warrensburg. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.
